Joey Lam

Joey is an Undergraduate student in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying a Bachelor's of Piano Performance and Advanced Studies under the guidance of Dr. Paul Rickard Ford.

 

Joey was introduced to the piano by his mother at the age of 6 and has since accumulated years of experience on the instrument and was awarded the Vasanta Scholarship by the Dean of the Conservatorium. Moreover, he has received Second Prize in his First Year of study in the Conservatorium's annual Piano Concerto Competition in September 2025, winning against students ranging in various levels of study, including Postgraduate Master's students. Some of his other notable achievements include receiving a joint First Prize in the Fall 2023 Kings Peak International Music Competition, an Honourable Mention in the Senior Piano division of the Melbourne International Piano and Strings Festival in 2022, Second prize in the 2017 2nd Shimoda International Music Competition, and First Prize in Hong Kong Schools music festival in 2015.

 

Over time, Joey has developed a passion in teaching, delivering his knowledge to help others foster their musicality. Watching his students' development and progress brings him a strong sense of fulfilment. Moreover, he is always open to the opportunity to connect with his students to best tailor his lessons to suit their needs.
