About Clara
Clara Masawan is a pianist and collaborative artist with an ATCL Piano Diploma and is currently furthering her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she is pursuing a degree in music performance under the tutelage of Associate Professor Stephanie McCallum and has studied piano pedagogy with Clemens Leske.
While growing up in Indonesia, Clara regularly performed for school events and competed successfully in various domestic and international competitions. Among her achievements are first prize in the 2017 and 2018 Essex Indonesia Piano Competitions, as well as second prize in the 2018 SEGi Young Musicians Piano Competition in Malaysia. Now, since starting her studies in Australia she has also developed a strong foundation in ensemble playing as a collaborative musician. She has performed with various ensembles, ranging from voice-piano duos to chamber music groups with strings and winds.
Clara is a passionate individual with genuine commitment to music and teaching. In her lessons, she adapts to different teaching methods to suit each student’s individual learning style and places importance not only on solo piano but also on aural and theory skills. She aims to cultivate well-rounded musicians and inspire a lifelong love for music.
